Hey, I’m Atoya

I opened The Curly Hair Studio in 2015 to create a space I couldn’t find anywhere else - where curls and waves finally feel seen, understood, and cared for.

We don’t do hype. We do real results, education, and care based on who you are, not what TikTok thinks you should be.

  • What a lovely experience! My 14yo daughter wanted to start embracing her curls so we went to The Curly Hair Studio. Our appointment was with Segie and she was incredible. She was so patient, informative, and detailed to help my daughter manage her curls. What we learned from Segie was it is less about the product and more about the technique.   • 100 stars!!!!! As a curly head, it is alwayssss so difficult to find stylists that understand how curly hair behaves AND know how to cut it without doing damage to the curl clumps. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and safe. SO IMPORTANT!!! My stylist (Segie) talked to me about expectations, what I wanted, and how we can achieve that. From the time we started until we were done I was being educated! This experience was like no other. When I was completed (around 2 hours of education YAY!) I felt so ready to tackle my curls. Hydration is key. I loved the products used and the compassion Segie had for my curly hair journey. I love this salon! Can't wait to come back for my trim in 6 months! If you're on the fence about getting a curl cut -- don't be. Just do it. You'll be so so happy!!

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

  • You can click any of the Book Now links on our website, or go directly to the Vagaro app and send a request for the Curly Experience. This is the required first appointment for all new clients.

  • If you’re having trouble with our online scheduling, please text us at 503-989-3482 and we’d be happy to assist you.

  • Yes! Once you’ve completed the Curly Experience, you’re free to move between stylists based on what works best for your schedule, budget, and preferences.

  • Yes! Both Atoya and Segie see children ages 7 and up. Pricing is the same as adult appointments. Simply book the Curly Experience or the appropriate Express or Full service if they’re already an existing client.
    Summer provides services for clients aged 13 and up only.

  • Summer is the only stylist offering men’s cuts. Please note: she does not do mullets or any type of fades.

  • At this time, we do not offer any color or highlight services.
