Hi:) My name is Atoya.

About pages just seem weird to me so I haven't had one. I mean, it's not about me, it's about you.

But recently I got some feedback from a new client and they kinda felt like my website was a little impersonal so I decided to change that.

I'm all about connection and it's one of the most important things to me.

So here goes...

I've loved hair and makeup my entire life and have been playing "makeover" with friends and family since I can remember.

I wanted to grow up and be a Clinique girl in those white coats, and loved the smell of walking by a salon.

Well, close....I became a MAC makeup artist girl and wore false lashes and all black.

Then I moved from sunny So Cal to Portland, Oregon (isn't this how everyone got here?), and decided there was no point in wasting time with blow-outs and Kardashian curls. (aka it rains everyday) Nope, I was just gonna learn how to embrace my inner boho.

Plus, as I've gotten older, I'm just too lazy to mess with it.

I really never set out to be a curl specialist, whisperer or guru. I just saw a need. A huge one.

I think great things are born out of needs being met.

It may seem like a small thing, but it's big to me and all the clients I see everyday who are learning to love their curls.

When I hear women say "I don't feel as pretty with my hair wavy/curly"...sigh* I feel ya.

I use to think the same way.

Or, "it's just not as professional" ( I wonder who made that rule up)

These are the things that drive me to keep learning, growing and educating about wavy/curly hair.

Cuz at the end of the day, we all just wanna feel accepted, valued, cherished and loved for being exactly as we are.

And pretty. Yeah, we wanna feel pretty.

Oh and sexy. Don't forget sexy.

That's my mission.
